How to go to Hell

I don’t think anybody really needs a tutorial on how to go to Hell, but these are many of the things that can send you to burn for eternity. Some are much weirder than others – God gets angry very easily! There’s the usual stuff like disobeying the Ten Commandments, but then there’s others:

* eat fruit from a tree less than five years old. [Lev. 19:23]

“‘When you enter the land and plant any kind of fruit tree, regard its fruit as forbidden. For three years you are to consider it forbidden; it must not be eaten.”

* cross-breed animals. [Lev. 19:19]

“Do not mate different kinds of animals.”

* grow two different plants in your garden. [Lev. 19:19]

“Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed.”

* wear a cotton-polyester blend T-Shirt. [Lev. 19:19]

“Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.”

* read your horoscope. [Lev. 19:26]

“Do not practice divination or seek omens.”

* consult a psychic. [Lev. 19:31]

“Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God.”

* cut your hair. [Lev. 19:27]

“Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head…”

* trim your beard. [Lev. 19:27]

“…or clip off the edges of your beard.”

* be tattooed. [Lev. 19:28]

“Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.” – funny how God feels that he has to say ‘I am the Lord’, just to boast his pride. Or maybe God’s just very insecure.

* plant crops for more than seven years. [Lev. 25:4, Ex. 23:10-13]

“But in the seventh year the land is to have a year of sabbath rest, a sabbath to the Lord. Do not sow your fields or prune your vineyards.”

* bear a grudge. [Lev. 19:17]

“Do not hate a fellow Israelite in your heart. Rebuke your neighbor franklyso you will not share in their guilt.”

* collect interest on a loan. [Ex. 22:25]

If you lend money to one of my people among you who is needy, do not treat it like a business deal; charge no interest.

* insult a leader. [Ex. 22:27]

“Do not blaspheme God or curse the ruler of your people.”

* mistreat a foreigner. [Ex. 22:21]

“Do not mistreat or oppress a foreigner, for you were foreigners in Egypt.” – but according to God, you can keep them as slaves just fine.

* spread false rumors. [Ex. 23:1]

“Do not spread false reports. Do not help a guilty person by being a malicious witness.”

* be a sorcerer [Revelation 21:8]

“But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

* be idle [Revelation 21:8]

“But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

* call someone a fool [Matthew 5:22]

“But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.”

*hang out with strange women [Proverbs 7:5]

“Keep thee from the strange woman … Her house is the way to hell.”

* hang on a tree [Galatians 3:13]

“Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.”

* say long prayers [Mark 12:40]

“Which devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.”

* worship another god [Ex. 20:3]

“You shall have no other gods before me.”

* be an atheist

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

* exist

You will apparently go to Hell by default because 6000 years ago two people took dietary advice from a talking snake.

And there are many, many more things that can send you to Hell. Not very fair, is it? These aren’t really good reasons, hanging on a tree, saying long prayers and cutting your hair should not be punishable by burning for eternity!

    • Like I mentioned in my article ‘Hell – not a threat to an atheist’, many people, even Christians, do not think that an all-loving God would allow Hell to exist. So therefor there are several different ideas about Hell, including no afterlife, or Hell being a place of ‘separation from God.’
      This is a pretty logical model, because Christians wouldn’t want to be separated from God, so it would be Hell to them, and people who don’t worship/even know of God wouldn’t care.

      Furthermore, Hell cannot scientifically exist as a place of fire. Is Hell endothermic or exothermic? An article on wordpress (found at https://willthomasonline.wordpress.com/2009/03/25/finally-proof-that-hell-does-not-exist/) wrote this:

      “First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let’s look at the different religions that exist in the world today.

      Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle’s Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.

      This gives two possibilities:

      1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

      2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

      So which is it?”
